APPLY-DEGGER

Simon Critchley is releasing an audio commentary of the entire text of Heidegger’s Being and Time. Here is his description of the project, and check out the first three episodes below.

Since January, I have recorded 18 episodes of a ridiculously long audio experiment called APPLY-DEGGER. This will be released for free in batches on the Onassis Channel over the next six weeks or so […] Taken together, APPLY-DEGGER attempts to provide a complete commentary on Heidegger’s Being and Time. I hope that these recordings will be useful to people who want to understand the most important and influential work of philosophy in the last 100 years, but do not have time to read all of its 437 pages, or who are put off by Heidegger’s intensely ugly prose.

APPLY-DEGGER is not intended for everyone. I am not seeking to make philosophy simple or offer patronizing banalities about life. These are not Ted talks. In many ways, they are the opposite. They are slow, clear and intimate explorations of Heidegger’s ideas in Being and Time. It is my conviction that genuine philosophy can be explained simply and clearly. But it takes the time that it takes. And that can’t be rushed.
